The Davao Jaycee Senate

ImageThe seed of what is now known as the Davao Jaycee Senate started in 1969.  Some 39 years ago, a handful of pioneers in the Junior Chamber of Davao decided to form the Davao JCI Senate Club (later without ‘Club’).  These founders became the charter members of the new group. The idea was primarily anchored on two valuable themes: a lifelong association with the Jaycee movement and an unflinching pursuit of the principles of the organization.

 

To ensure that the new club’s infant steps were on right track, the founding members, who loosely called themselves as the fellowship group, unanimously chose JCI Sen. Ramon ‘Monet’ A. Tirol as their First President (1969-70).  A year later, he was elected as the club’s charter president.  Tirol later became the 1971 Constitutional Convention Vice Chairman, and was recently appointed as Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam.

A HORSEMAN AT THE HELM OF DAVAO JAYCEE SENATE
The Davao Jaycee Senate has chosen an avid horseman and sports enthusiast to take the job of its Presidency and lead the Chapter in 2009. But first and foremost, JCI Senator George Walter M. Misa brings with him a wealth of experience as a dyed-in-the-wool Jaycee, having gone thru the gamut of the whole Jaycee training – from member, to President of the Davao Jaycees, to NVP for Southern Mindanao, to NEVP for Mindanao and finally, to NSEVP, of the Philippine Jaycees. (For a while there, he was also President of the NOM but that’s another story.)
